The treasury stock of IBEX 35\u00ae companies\u2014i.e., the number of own shares held on the balance sheets of listed firms\u2014fell by 34% at the end of 2024, to 579 million shares. This is the lowest figure in five years and is mainly due to record levels of share cancellations, which companies are increasingly using as a means of shareholder remuneration and to readjust their financial structure.
